National Treasure

Allmost a perfect score. (Not that I have a system, but...) Action, mystery, suspense. This movie kept me at the edge of my seat all the time. The actors perform beautifully. The effects are integrated seamlessly into the picture, and not the other way around.
A wonderfully achieved movie, no wonder the first time I tried to rent it it was completely rented-out. At least that meant I saw it for free. Even though it didn't cost me a penny, it was worth every cent I 'would' have paid.
Definetly reccomended.

Spanglish

When people speak in spanglish, it is difficult to understand what point is the person trying to make. Specifically because of the constant change between languages which is often a bad choice of words. In the movie, the characters interact in often funny ways. There are many comments and conversations that are quite hilarious. Other times, the mood is supposed to be sentimental, but the unstable personality of the main characters often result in this becoming an awkward moment.
It is a sweet movie, and it has it good times. Too bad the ending is so bad.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

Today I saw a series of unfortunate events. Not only do I refer to the movie but to the contents themselves. I actually looked forward to seeing this movie, mainly because of Jim Carey's appearance as Count Olaf (and a couple more characters as well).
Of the books I have only read the first one, and it was good. I really liked it. The movie, on the other hand, needed all te mixing and matching of unfortunate events of the first three books to give the screenplay enough movement to make the 120 minutes of film worth its time.
Jim, as always, made the movie worthwhile. The children did a good job too, in particular the twins playing Sunny, the bitter. The cast was good, including a cameo by Dustin Hoffman, but the story was deformed too much. Perhaps it's not a good book to make a movie out of. Perhaps I should have rented "The Littlest Elf" instead.
